Bio
Lorne Cardinal is an actor and director well known for his role as Sergeant Davis Quinton on 6 seasons of CTV’s Corner Gas. Following the series, Lorne has starred in the films Rust with Corbin Bernsen and Disney’s Flicka 2. Recently, he finished the APTN pilot Wolf Canyon, hosted the CBC comedy special Turtle Island Too and appeared on the Air Farce Not New Year’s Eve special.
Lorne’s also been busy on the stage acting in a 2012 production of Michel Tremblay’s For the Pleasure of Seeing Her Again and a 2010/2011 touring production of Thunderstick. He has directed theatre productions as well, including a production of Tomson Highways’ Ernestine Shushwap Gets Her Trout and Three Little Birds by Kenneth T. Williams. In May 2012, Lorne will be Assistant Directing an all-star Native cast, including August Schellenberg (Free Willy & Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee), in Shakespeare’s King Lear on the main stage of the National Art Centre in Ottawa in addition to playing the role of the Duke of Albany.
Lorne’s film and TV credits include: North of 60, Moccasin Flats: Redemption, Insomnia with Al Pacino, Icebound with Susan Sarandon, Tecumseh, the voice of Jacob on the Gemini Award winning animated series Wapos Bay, In the Blue Ground: A North of 60 Mystery, Crazy Horse, Renegadepress.com, Elijah, Blackfly, Lonesome Dove, Jake and the Kid and Snowmageddon (aired as Snowglobe Christmas on Movie Central). In 2012, you can catch Lorne as Zach Ward in several episodes of CBC’s Arctic Air and in the feature film Path of Souls.
Not only does Lorne direct for theatre, he’s directed numerous episodes for TV series such as Renegadepress.com, Moccasin Flats and Rabbit Fall.
He is also a recurring host for award shows like the National Aboriginal Achievement Awards, National Aboriginal Day, The Dreamcatcher Gala, Winnipeg Comedy Festival and he’s hosted the Aboriginal Peoples Choice Music Awards for 6 years in a row!
Lorne has also won 2 Gemini Awards for Wapos Bay and Corner Gas as well as numerous nominations for his body of acting work. He is also the recipient of an honourary PhD from Thompson Rivers University.
Lorne lives with his partner, writer & stand-up comedian Monique Hurteau on the west coast of British Columbia.
